GOURMAISIE
I started Gourmaisie to bring the same zest that I have for the culinary into other people’s lives; to bring meaning to their food with the small gesture of offering up something as simple as a flavour.
But a flavour you won’t ever forget.
Food holds powerful meaning. It's family and friends; love and hate; history and present; failure and success. It's sentimental, sensual, therapeutic, ritualistic, hilariously easy, and so damn challenging all at once.
And that's why I love it so much.
In my world of cooking, food doesn't have to be fancy to be fulfilling, nor should it have to look extravagant to taste immaculate.
Food should just be food.

Growing up in a family of foodies, quality time was spent sitting round the dinner table for hours chatting nonsense over home-cooked recipes that I still cherish and use today. Baking was something I learnt very early on from my mother, and from there my interest and passion for the culinary just kept growing and growing. I would find any excuse to rustle something up in the kitchen, even baking my own cupcakes to bring into primary school on my birthday, or putting on mini supper clubs for my parents and eventually, hosting roasts and dinners at uni.

The enjoyment and vitality I reap from cooking – both on and off the job – makes up the largest part of who I am, and of my multiple vocations, it is the one I simply could not live without. Food just never gets boring for me. It’s the broth of life that keeps me going. Thinking about it, making it, eating it, writing about it, dreaming about it, reading about it, creating it, talking about it. Anything and everything about it, I just absolutely adore.

With rustic being the keyword, my food looks and tastes like real food – no bells and whistles. I can just about make you anything you desire. From occasion cakes & build-your-own tray bakes, brownies, and blondies, all the way to tarts, quiches, pies, savouries & salads. You name it, I will make it. And I’ll make it well. I am a Brighton-based chef, baker, and culinary creator at a family-owned deli that has been part of Seven Dials since the early nineties. Working full-time in a busy kitchen that boasts a lot of freedom to experiment means I can simply never get enough of making delicious food for anyone who wants to eat it. I feed many a mouth; I make salads, sandwiches, quiches, and cakes as part of my day job, alongside advising our many customers on cheese, charcuterie, and pretty much anything food-related.
